It’s been quite a year for live event ticketing.
As crowds return from their pandemic slumber, there’s been a lot of talk about how to do things better. The National Independent Venue Association launched its Fix the Tix campaign, which in turn set wheels in motion in Washington. Just four days ago, the Senate announced the Fans First Act, designed to protect artists from predatory practices such as automated purchases for the secondary market and undisclosed fees.
At Gobo, we’ve been against these practices from the get go. We don’t pass fees onto patrons, instead, we seek to understand what value a platform could provide to ticket sellers to justify a low cost for use. We don’t see ourselves as gatekeepers, but rather as connectors and enablers of a shared experience that we all love. Before we wrote a single line of code or designed a single screen in our application, we spent time talking to artists, venues, patrons, presenters, and booking agents to understand what they wanted out of a ticketing platform. What stood out to us was a shared love of the experiences they all enabled. There was a universal desire to connect audiences with meaningful experiences and to help artists succeed.
We’re building an organization of people who do shows, not just profit from them, and we want to stay connected to them. That’s why every year at this time, we turn to our community to ask them what they are looking for from ticketing platforms in the coming year. It’s time for our third annual community survey. If you’ve taken the time in the past to give us your feedback, thanks, and we’d love to hear from you again. If this is your first time, welcome! Would you consider taking a few minutes to share your perspectives? We value your input and use it to shape the product we are building. We will share the results of the survey once they are in in the new year, but all individual responses are kept anonymous.
Thanks for helping us build a better way to enable live events!
